Simeone would want full control over transfers at Chelsea

Chelsea have been linked with an approach for Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone in recent days as they look for a long-term successor to Jose Mourinho, who was sacked after one of the worst starts to a season by a title winning side in history.

It’s clear why Simeone would be a target after the success he has had in Madrid, where he broke the monopoly of Barcelona and Real Madrid by beating the El Classico giants to the La Liga title in 2013-14.

However, Chelsea’s attempts to bring the Argentine to Stamford Bridge might not be straight forward, with Matt Law of The Telegraph writing that Simeone would only agree to a move if he had the final say on all transfer dealings.

At the moment, the final say on deals at Chelsea sits with technical director Michael Emenalo, who signed Papy Djilobodji in the summer with no input from Jose Mourinho.

Law quotes a source close to Simeone who says that the Argentine would say that him having the final say on deals is ‘non-negotiable’, so if he is the man who Roman Abramovic wants, he’ll need to change the club’s transfer set up.
