Courtois looking to climb the table under Hiddink

Courtois looking to climb the table under Hiddink

Thibaut Courtois believes that Chelsea are ready to shoot up the Premier League under the management of newly appointed interim boss, Guus Hiddink.

Speaking the club’s official website, the Belgian believes that the new interim manager will fire Chelsea back to where they need to be. Following a 3-1 victory at home to Sunderland, Chelsea face Watford on Saturday in the search of back-to-back victories.

Hiddink has already been involved at Chelsea, having taken over from Luiz Felipe Scolari in 2009. During that time, Chelsea lifted the FA Cup and enjoyed a very good run under Hiddink, who quickly became a fan favourite. Courtois believes that Hiddink can relieve the success he had during his first interim spell at Stamford Bridge in 2009:

He was here before, he did very well and I think he’s a very good manager, hopefully together we can climb back up the table and we’re looking forward to starting working with him.

The Belgian reveals that the squad are looking to put the situation regarding Jose Mourinho past them and focus on what needs to be done. The 22-year-old said:

Whatever has happened [with Mourinho] stays in the past and now we want to work hard with the new manager to get a good result against Watford.
