Guus Hiddink’s first game back in charge of Chelsea ended as a 2-2 draw with Watford.
Chelsea took the lead through a Diego Costa half volley, but the visitors drew level when Troy Deeney converted from the spot after Nemanja Matic inexplicably handled Ben Watson’s corner.
Watford went ahead when the in-from Odion Ighalo’s deflected in off Gary Cahill, although the defender would think he could have done better.
Costa got his, and Chelsea’s, second of the game when he latched on to Willian’s perfect through ball and finished superbly.
Oscar had the chance to put the hosts in front after Valon Behrami brought down Eden Hazard in the area, but the Brazilian slipped as he approached the kick and ballooned it over the bar.
