Falcao must prove himself to earn place says Hiddink

Radamel Falcao must prove his fitness before earning a chance in the first-team according to interim manager, Guus Hiddink.

According to the Daily Star, Hiddink is ready to give the striker a chance to prove his doubters wrong. However, the striker isn’t ready to return to action yet.

The Colombian has only recently returned to training after a series of niggling injuries. A calf injury has kept the striker out of action since October.

Hiddink said:

He [Falcao] is training with us, but there is a difference of being fit and game fit, you need longer in training. We talked to him about the intensity of training.

He has only managed to score one Premier League goal this season, back when Chelsea played Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge.

The manager added:

If you are fit to train, the next step is to be game fit.

Falcao recently admitted he would like more chances at Stamford Bridge after failing to rekindle some of his finer form from earlier in his career.

A number of teams have reportedly expressed interest in taking Falcao on loan in January, should Chelsea decide to cut their deal with AS Monaco short.
