Steve Parish bemoans Bamford departure

Crystal Palace co-owner Steve Parish believes it was a shame to see Patrick Bamford end his loan spell at Selhurst Park.

According to the Surrey Mirror, Parish was sad to see the promising young striker announce that he plans to cut his deal short in January. Bamford announced his plans after Palace’s goalless draw at Selhurst Park.

Parish said:

If that’s what Chelsea and Patrick want to do, that’s what they want to do – he’s been a good lad while he’s been here.

After making only nine appearances all season, Bamford yesterday decided that he would return to his parent club in January. At this moment in time, it is unclear what the future holds for Bamford.

During those nine games, the 22-year-old failed to score.

Palace’s co-owner added:

It’s a shame it hasn’t worked out for him, he’s got a lot of quality. We’ll have to look at what we do now [up front]. He is a good and it’s been good having him around the place, so we’ll make a plan now.

The striker may want to try and force his way into the current Chelsea squad, or could find himself being sent out on loan again, with Swansea reportedly keen on taking the player on loan for the second half of the season.
