Manchester City’s star man, Kevin De Bruyne believes the small transfer fee Chelsea paid for the Belgian was the reason why he didn’t get much game time at Stamford Bridge.
According to the Daily Mail, De Bruyne believes that had Chelsea paid as much as Manchester City had paid for him, he may be wearing a different shade of blue.
He said:
It makes a huge difference [whether a club paid a lot of money for you], I would have played more at Chelsea had they paid as much for me as City did. That’s the way things work in this business.
De Bruyne arrived at Chelsea from Genk for a mere £7m, whilst Manchester City paid a whopping £47m for the Belgian after a spell at Wolfsburg when he left Chelsea.

Current Chelsea first team players such as Thibaut Courtois, Cesar Azpilicueta, Branislav Ivanovic and Gary Cahill all joined Chelsea for similar fees, between £7-10m, so is what De Bruyne is saying true?
The midfielder has also taken a swipe at Chelsea by claiming there is a much better team spirit at the Etihad when compared to Stamford Bridge.
He added:
We have a lot of stars but everyone acts normal. There are no groups within the team, we all get along very well. It’s hard to compare this group to that of Chelsea. Maybe we are more united.
