Under-fire Chelsea winger Eden Hazard believes that the London side have the potential to put their disastrous start to the season behind them because they are ‘in a good way’.
Following an awful run of form that saw Jose Mourinho sacked and a less than impressive start under interim boss Guus Hiddink, Chelsea find themselves 22 points adrift of leaders Arsenal and hovering just three points above the relegation zone.
However, the Belgian told the club’s official website that he believes they are ready to begin making strides in climbing the table and, if the Blues begin to build momentum, they have the potential to win two trophies this season.
We are in a good way right now, we just need to start winning more games to bring the confidence back and create more positivity.
If the second half of the season goes well we can win two trophies so we just want to take it game by game, we don’t want to look too far into the future. It’s just about winning as many matches as possible.
The 24-year-old has been criticised by the media and pundits this term for a string of under-par performances, after winning the PFA Player of the Year for Chelsea’s title-winning 2014/15 campaign, but is looking to prove doubters wrong by putting in 100% in any position that they need him.
I prefer to play on the left wing but if I have to play up front, why not? It just means I need to come a bit deeper to get the ball at my feet but I enjoy it. It’s the same, my job is always to try to make the difference. When I play as a striker it’s important for me to get into the box when crosses come in and try to get across to the front post.
