Both Gary Cahill and Ruben Loftus-Cheek have admitted that the FA Cup is a massive competition for Chelsea Football Club this season.
As reported by Sky Sports, the duo were speaking to ChelseaTV following their 2-0 win over Scunthorpe on Sunday.
Chelsea head into the fourth round in the hope of making it all the way to Wembley, in a competition that Guus Hiddink won during his first spell in charge of Chelsea, back in 2009 after beating Everton.
Loftus-Cheek came off the bench to score the goal that sealed the result for Chelsea yesterday at Stamford Bridge, the midfielder admitted it is a competition that Chelsea want to win because of their poor league form:
Even if we were doing really well in the Premier League it’s still a competition we’d want to win, but this season I think we should really want to win it. The Premier League hasn’t gone that well, so I think this is a competition we’ve got to win.

After coming off the bench, the midfielder even joked he’s happy to play anywhere to get some minutes:
Right now I’m happy to play anywhere – right-back, left-back, wherever! I just want to get on the pitch, get some minutes and enjoy my football. The fans have been so supportive of me, right through from when I joined the first team.
Gary Cahill shared the thoughts of the England U21s international, who believes that the Champions League and the FA Cup will be big opportunities for Chelsea:
I think the FA Cup and the Champions League can be two massive competitions for us, and two that we want to go as far as we possibly can in, every game’s important, but the FA Cup is definitely important for us this year.
