Former Tottenham manager, Harry Redknapp believes that champions Chelsea should turn to free agent Emmanuel Adebayor this January to fire them up the Premier League.
The struggling London side should look towards the former Arsenal man says Redknapp, speaking in his Evening Standard column, as a short-term fix till the end of the season.
He could even perform at a higher level — Chelsea have been linked with him and if he went to a club like that, he’d know he wouldn’t necessarily play every week but on a short-term basis, so he should relish the challenge of proving he is big enough to play in the big games.
Redknapp, who worked with Adebayor at Tottenham, believes that the striker who is currently without a club could still perform in the Premier League and feels that he should be at the top of every club’s shopping list in the bottom half of the Premier League.
Chelsea currently have Loic Remy, Diego Costa and Radamel Falcao as their striking options although the latter has fallen out of favour since Jose Mourinho’s departure from Stamford Bridge.
A new and experienced striker could well be on Guus Hiddink’s wishlist this January as he looks to push Chelsea up the Premier League table.
