Zouma: We’re getting there slowly

Chelsea defender, Kurt Zouma has been encouraged by the Blues’ recent run of form under the new manager, Guus Hiddink.

Speaking on French football show, Canal Football Club, Zouma believes Chelsea are slowly getting back to their best.

The defender said:

We haven’t lost in 2016. So things are going well. We’re getting there slowly. We’re drawing games so it’s a little difficult.

He added:

But we’re better than at the start of the season. We’re losing fewer matches so it’s encouraging for the rest of the campaign. Now I hope we can get a run going and win a lot of matches.

Under Hiddink, Zouma has been a key part of Chelsea’s success, making an impression at the heart of the Chelsea defence. Hiddink believes that the player is making good progression this season.

Chelsea have failed to taste defeat since Jose Mourinho’s departure from the club in all competitions.

The 21-year-old believes that team spirit has been key for Chelsea, and that spirit shown through during Chelsea’s dramatic comeback against Everton on Saturday. John Terry scored a last minute equaliser to get a point from the game at Stamford Bridge.

Zouma looked ahead to Chelsea’s Champions League tie against Paris Saint-Germain, who look set to be heading to another Ligue 1 title, with the French side 21 points clear.

Looking at where we are in the league it does [obsess us] a bit because it’s still important to win a title this season, so the Champions League definitely counts a lot for us. But we’re not too focused on it [yet] because we have problems to sort out.
