Chelsea failed to include sell-on clauses when selling duo

The Times are reporting that Chelsea missed a trick, or two when selling both Kevin De Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku in recent seasons.

The report reveals that Chelsea failed to install any sell-on clauses when selling to the Belgian pair to Wolfsburg and Everton respectively.

After failing to settle at Chelsea, Jose Mourinho wielded the axe and sold De Bruyne to the German side for £18m in January 2014. However over the summer, the playmaker moved to Manchester City for a massive, club record fee of £55m.

As well as De Bruyne, Chelsea sold Lukaku to Everton for a whopping £28m, in what looked to be a great piece of business at the time, after the striker only made a handful of appearances for Chelsea since the club brought the young striker in 2011.

Chelsea could miss out a percentage of any future fee, with Lukaku currently being linked with a move away from Everton for a massive £65m.

There had been reports that suggested Chelsea did hold a sell-on clause for the duo, but unfortunately for the club, that does not look the case.
