Chelsea welcomed Manchester United to Stamford Bridge in the first game at home since John Terry announced he would be leaving the club.
After an uneventful first half, the game came to life in the second half. Chelsea made two early substitutions, Eden Hazard replaced Oscar and Gary Cahill replaced Kurt Zouma who suffered a nasty injury.
Louis van Gaal’s side took the lead through a well-taken volley from Jesse Lingard inside the Chelsea penalty area. Chelsea were forced to chase the game, bringing Pedro on for Nemanja Matic.
Diego Costa saved Chelsea’s skin with a late goal as he took the ball round De Gea to finish, leaving Guus Hiddink’s unbeaten run intact.
