GK: Thibaut Courtois
Since returning from injury, a few people have said that Courtois is yet to return to his best, but his game in Paris against the Ligue 1 champions was sublime.
Although he could have done better with Cavani’s goal, the Belgian kept the score down and, therefore, will remain in between the posts for Hiddink.
RB: Cesar Azpilicueta
Because of injuries, you can expect to see Dave slot into his natural right-back position. To start off with, the former Marseille man didn’t have the best of games in the week, but slowly grew into it and ended strongly.
CB: Gary Cahill
Gary Cahill is expected to remain in the defence for Chelsea, more out of force than want.
The English defender isn’t the worst back-up in the world, and with John Terry a doubt and Kurt Zouma out for months, Chelsea fans better get to grips with Cahill being there. In Paris, the former Bolton defender put in a solid performance.
CB: Branislav Ivanovic
If John Terry still isn’t fit in time to feature, Branislav Ivanovic will slot in at centre-half again, and captain the side.
The Serbian put in a good shift in the week, and with a performance like that, the defender has a lot to live up to in the next few games
LB: Baba Rahman
Poor Baba Rahman. The former Augsburg defender has struggled to cement a spot in Guus Hiddink’s plans but now has a massive chance.
The young star is expected to fit in at left back and will need to prove to his manager that his great display in Paris wasn’t just a one-off.
CDM: John Obi Mikel
Fresh from giving the first goal away, and then netting the equaliser in France, John Obi Mikel is expected to keep his place in the side as the game against Manchester City suits him.
We’ll be calling upon the Nigerian to break up the play and help us keep the ball if we start to struggle against Pellegrini’s side.
CDM: Nemanja Matic
It’s a bold decision, but it’s possible that Hiddink will decide to maximise Chelsea’s chances of progressing in a Cup that the manager loves, by playing two holding midfielders.
Nemanja Matic can come in and partner Mikel in the deeper parts of the midfield, winning the ball back and setting Chelsea away on the break.
RW: Pedro
Since the depature of Jose Mourinho, former Barcelona winger Pedro has really started to shine.
The Spaniard offers a massive threat going forward with his pace and skill, plus, he’s not shy to take a shot – hence his two goals last weekend against Newcastle at the Bridge.
CAM - Cesc Fabregas
As much as I can see Hiddink playing two defensive midfielders to strengthen the weakened defence, I also feel that will enable Cesc Fabregas to push on a little and have some freedom between the Manchester City midfielders.
If we are to progress, Cesc has an important role to fill and has been playing well in recent weeks.
LW: Eden Hazard
Although he’s still not in tip-top form, Eden Hazard will provide a massive threat to a Manchester City side who aren’t in the best form as of late.
His performance against PSG wasn’t the best – hence why he was replaced by Oscar – but the Belgian will still give City something to think about, and can be the difference between the two sides.
ST: Diego Costa
The machine. Diego Costa was so unfortunate to not find the net in the week after a magnificent save from PSG’s Trapp.
The Spanish international is on fire at the moment, and he’ll be our biggest threat on the weekend and could put us into the next round.
