Chelsea target’s release clause to be increased by £16m

Atletico Madrid are preparing to fend off yet more interest from sides across Europe for their star man, Antoine Griezmann.

According to the Daily Mail, the Spanish side are working on a new contract for the French striker, with an even bigger release clause inserted into the deal.

Griezmann’s current deal includes a release clause of around €80m, which converts to roughly, £63m. Atletico officials are looking to bump that up to €100m, meaning it would cost Chelsea around £79m to land him.

Griezmann confirmed the news when speaking on Spanish radio show, El Larguero. He said:

We are in talks, more with my representative than me. I am dedicated to playing at the moment, but both parties are doing well.
