Chelsea full-back Cesar Azpilicueta has quashed reports linking him with a move away from the club by insisting that he is ‘very happy’ at Stamford Bridge.
Speaking to French radio station RMC, the Spanish international committed the next ‘few years’ of his career to the Blues.
I count on staying another few years at Chelsea, I’m very happy there [at Chelsea] – I’m not thinking about leaving the club. I’m even thinking only of the Blues.
Since joining from Marseille in 2012, Azpilicueta has become an integral part of Chelsea’s side.
His ability to play as a left-back as well as his preferred right-back role makes him a useful player for any squad and his aforementioned versatility has helped interim manager Guus Hiddink to get the club’s season back on track.
The former Marseille man went on to say that if he were to leave Chelsea, it would only be for a club that, he feels, could further his development.
Marseille made a big impact on me and gave me the chance to discover Europe. I felt very good over there. But if I have to leave it would be for a club where I could develop even more than at Chelsea.
Azpilicueta has made 37 appearances for Chelsea this season and is expected to feature in this weekend’s Premier League clash with Stoke City.
