Fans pick their favourite Fernando Torres goal

Chelsea fans have made their voice heard and voted on Fernando Torres’ best goal in a Chelsea shirt.

A few days ago, we asked you what Torres goal was your favourite. We selected a range of El Nino’s strikes in blue. From headers to volleys, there was a number goals to choose from.

Unsurprisingly, his last-minute equaliser against Barcelona came out on top.

His goal, that ultimately secured Chelsea’s place in the 2012 Champions League final, was the clear winner.

The runner-up was his opening goal in the Europa League final versus Benfica in 2013, followed up by his volley against Bayern Munich in the 2013 European Super Cup final.

Although all of the goals included in this were special, the equaliser against Barcelona is a clear favourite amongst fans.

Going round the onrushing Victor Valdes, Torres coolly slotted the ball into the empty net. This goal prompted huge celebrations on and off the pitch, electrifying the visiting Chelsea fans in the Nou Camp.

His Chelsea career may not have been spectacular, but Torres had his moments. His involvement in the historic 2011/12 season will always be remembered, with this goal being very close to fan’s hearts. I’d say that’s £50 million well spent.

What do you think? Do you agree that Torres’ best goal for Chelsea was the late goal against Barcelona?

matchday.
