Christensen will not be playing for Chelsea next season

Chelsea youngster Andreas Christensen will not be will not be cutting his two-year loan move at German club Borussia Monchengladbach short according to reports from the Daily Star.

The 19-year-old from Denmark, who signed for Chelsea in 2012, left in the summer on loan to join the German side for two seasons.

Gladbach’s sporting director, Max Eberl put the rumours of a return to Chelsea to bed:

Sure, he has developed great and a lot of clubs are interested in him, but he will definitely play for Gladbach next season.

Christensen will reportedly reject any request from new incoming Chelsea manager Antonio Conte to leave Germany early after Kurt Zouma’s big injury.

Chelsea may even lose-lose Christensen for good as German giants Bayern Munich are reportedly impressed with the young Dane’s performances so far this season and may well be interested in swooping in for him this summer.

Chelsea are set to be short at the back this summer with club legend John Terry also departing and bringing back Christensen would seem like the perfect fit especially after signing a new deal last summer with the club.

Even if Monchengladbach agree to release the 19-year-old, he may not want to return, given that he is enjoying regular first team football, which new manager Conte cannot guarantee. Chelsea are prepared to offer Nathan Ake a route back to the club as Christensen’s replacement.
