When the Premier League fixture list was announced, Chelsea vs Manchester City in match week 34 probably seemed like a great idea — even a title-decider, perhaps. Instead, the game is – for lack of a better word – meaningless for one of these teams, while the other team tries to separate itself from Manchester United in the Premier League table.
The Blues lost their first league match of the season under Guus Hiddink last weekend in their 1-0 loss to Swansea at the Liberty Stadium.
Things are going better for Manuel Pelligrini’s side, who have won two consecutive league matches and just advanced to the semi-finals of the Champions League after their mid-week win over Paris Saint-Germain.
This will mark the third time this season that Chelsea and Manchester City will square off. The first was a forgettable 3-0 romping at the Etihad in Chelsea’s second league match of the season back on 16th August. The Blues bounced back on 21st February in a 5-1 FA Cup win at Stamford Bridge.
What do you think of this combined XI?
(NOTE: Since both squads are riddled with injuries, we’re disregarding them and basing this line-up on recent form.)
