Radamel Falcao has told Argentine media outlet TYC Sports that his loan move to Chelsea will not be made permanent and that his plan is to spend next season with his parent club Monaco.
After a disappointing loan period with Manchester United last year, it was a surprise when Chelsea decided to take him on loan this season.
The Colombian has hardly featured for the Blues this season due to a combination of injury and poor form and it is no surprise that Chelsea have no intention of keeping him for any longer than they have to.
When speaking about his future, the 30-year-old said:
Monaco made a big investment in me and they want some return on that. They want me back at the club for next season. I need to have minutes, to play, and we’ll see what happens. Monaco want to see what my position is in a year, to see what possibilities I have. The project changed, it took a turn in every sense. Today, they’re more of a selling club than they were three years ago, when they wanted to put a very strong team together. In principle, the idea is that I’ll be with Monaco for that season.

Once considered as one of the best strikers in Europe during his time with Atletico Madrid, Falcao has never really hit the heights that many predicted he would, mainly because of injuries.
Time will tell if he can have a resurgence in Monaco but if the last two years are anything to go by, then that seems unlikely.
