Heading into the 2015/16 season, Jose Mourinho was taking his Chelsea side into a title defending campaign – a task which many fans and pundits thought the Blues would carry out with ease.
However, it wasn’t like that. In fact, it was the complete opposite!
In the end, the West Londoners finished the season in tenth position, failed to win any silverware and haven’t qualified for either of the European tournaments next year.
This may be an issue for new manager Antonio Conte, who may find it a little harder to persuade players to move to Stamford Bridge next summer.

According to the Daily Star, when reflecting on the past season whilst away with his Belgian team-mates who are heading to France for Euro 2016, Thibaut Courtois admits that Chelsea didn’t show up next season, but will need to put that right.
We’ve clearly not had a good season. When you are way down the table after two or three months you should not be blind to the fact. You know it will not be possible to play a role in the title race. But we still had the FA Cup and Champions League. Yet we came up against Everton in the Cup and they played better than us. Then we met Paris St-Germain in Europe and didn’t play to our normal standard.
