Begovic dismisses exit rumours

Chelsea goalkeeper Asmir Begovic has played down the transfer rumours linking him with a move away from Stamford Bridge, following an interview on BBC Two.

The 28-year-old had been linked with a move to a number of Premier League clubs, with Crystal Palace reportedly interested, after making 28 appearances for the Blues this season

But the Bosnia-Herzegovina keeper, who was speaking to the BBC’s Andrew Cotter at Queens Club as rain halted Fernando Verdasco’s match with Stanislas Wawrinka, dismissed the rumours as “speculation” when asked whether there was any truth in the reports.

No it’s just pure speculation. I’m looking forward to enjoying a nice couple of weeks off and enjoying time with my family and then in the beginning of July getting back to pre-season to focus on Chelsea. So there’s nothing else on my mind at the moment.

Cotter briefly joked about Thibaut Courtois conceding two goals against Italy last night, to which Begovic gave a quick chuckle, and the Chelsea number two seemed in good spirits despite failing to qualify for Euro 2016 with Bosnia.

I think it’s been a good tournament, there’s been so many close games and it seems like a very wide open tournament so it’s anyone’s to win.
