According to the Guardian, new Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has sent his people to try and sweet talk French defender Samuel Umtiti, in an attempt to lure him into signing for the West London club.
However, the Blues aren’t the only club that are attempting to get Lyon to sell their French defender. La Liga champions Barcelona are also interested in his services, and it’s now a battle of the two sides.
Mundo Deportivo have reported that Arsenal have also joined the race for the defender, with both English clubs aware of the interest from Barcelona too.
The report from the Spanish media outlet above suggests that Chelsea expressed their interest in Umtiti last season, but nothing went through and so the Blues have come back in another attempt to lure the Frenchman to pick life under Antonio Conte.
However, with both Arsenal and Barcelona in the race for the defender’s signature, this transfer could go either way and time will tell on whether or not Umtiti wants to see what life is like at Stamford Bridge.
