After just one season since his switch from the Nou Camp to Stamford Bridge, Sky Sports are reporting that the Spanish winger has held talks with La Liga champions Barcelona, regarding a return.
28-year-old Pedro, who is currently away with the Spanish team on Euro’s duty in France, joined Chelsea in a deal worth £28m last summer, but never really got the ball rolling how he would have liked.
At the end of Euro 2016, Italian coach Antonio Conte will take over the reigns at Stamford Bridge ahead of the new season, with one of his first task likely to be persuading the winger to stay at the club.
Pedro, who currently has three years remaining on his current deal with the former Premier League champions, came through the ranks at Barcelona before then cementing a spot in the first-team.
During his time in Catalonia, the Spaniard managed to bag five La Liga titles and three Champions League crowns.
(I can return to Barcelona) but I know it’s hard. It’s complicated, but I’ve always said that I would like to retire at Barcelona. However, I know it’s difficult because the years go by and the club has the best players in the world, it is a very demanding club and to return is complicated. But I do not rule it out either.
I have already spoken about it with the president (Josep Maria Bartomeu) when we (Barcelona) were in the (Cup) final (when Barcelona beat Sevilla 2-0 last month) and spoke to all the people who want me there.
