Borussia Monchengladbach’s Sporting Director Max Eberl has confirmed that his side are looking to make a club record bid for Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen.
The 20-year-old spent last season on loan at Monchengladbach and is set to do so next year too, but the Bundesliga side are looking to keep him long term.
A lot Blues fans are looking forward to Christensen’s return to Stamford Bridge having seen him impress in Germany, but Monchengladbach are hoping to prevent that from happening.

Eberl told BILD that his side are willing to break their club record fee for a transfer to secure the capture of the Danish international on a long-term deal, but did say the club would not spend money they didn’t have.
He said:
We only spend the money we have. But in the case of Christensen we are of course willing to make him a record transfer. We know for sure that a player with his qualities won’t be cheap.
Earlier this summer, Monchengladbach paid a fee of €15million to Bayer Leverkusen for midfielder Christoph Kramer, so that provides some indication of what they are willing to pay more than for Christensen.
