Mikel’s agent unsure on plans for next season

John Obi Mikel’s agent has admitted that his client hasn’t decided as to whether or not he will be present for Chelsea at the start of the 2016/17 season, according to the Express.

The Nigerian midfielder has been selected to represent his country at the Olympic Games in Brazil which is due to get underway in August.

However, despite his agent being on the list to travel, Mikel’s agent is unsure as to whether or not the midfielder will travel because it would mean missing the start of the new domestic season in England.

I don’t know if he will be available for the Olympic Games or will attend the training camp.

The Nigeria Football Federation are in a better position to say whether he will be available for the Games or not.

The Olympic Games commence on 5th August, and will still be running when the time comes for the Premier League to get back underway, with Chelsea going into the season under a new manager in Antonio Conte.

Chelsea’s season commences on August 13th at Stamford Bridge against London rivals West Ham, and the Blues will have the final say on whether or not Mikel will be allowed to travel with his national team.
