Ranieri: Conte and Chelsea made for eachother

Leicester City and ex-Chelsea, manager Claudio Ranieri has praised Antonio Conte, claiming that he and Chelsea are ‘made for each other’ when speaking to Eurosport.

Ranieri guided Leicester City to a remarkable Premier League title last season, defying all the odds to lift the trophy at the end of the season.

He was touted as a possible contender to replace Jose Mourinho at one point, but he stayed at Leicester, which ultimately led to his title triumph.

Instead, the Italy manager was named as Chelsea’s head coach. Conte led Italy to the quarter-finals of the European Championships this summer, before being knocked out by Germany on penalties.

Conte has taken over at Chelsea and already brought in N’Golo Kante from Ranieri’s side, Leicester, for £30million, as well as Michy Batshuayi from Marseille. However, Conte did lose his first friendly in charge against Rapid Wien 2-0.

Despite this, he has been earning plenty of plaudits from fans and now managers. When speaking about Conte’s appointment, Ranieri said this:

Antonio and Chelsea are made for each other. They must know each other well and not let themselves be sidelined by the inevitable cultural differences, but we shall see an Italian model at Chelsea.
