With reports suggesting Antonio Conte is prepared to spend a whopping £65million plus Loic Remy in order to bring striker Romelu Lukaku back to Stamford Bridge, many Blues fans have begun questioning the hefty price tag which would see him become Chelsea’s most expensive ever signing.
The big Belgian made a permanent move to Everton in 2014 for £28million, with the majority of Blues fans disappointed to see him go after recognising his potential, and has scored 61 goals in 117 appearances for the Toffees.
And whilst I’m sure many of the Chelsea fans who were sad to see him go would love to have Lukaku back at the Bridge, concerns are growing that he could become another big-money flop should Conte fork out just shy of £70million for the striker.
On the other hand, however, the thought of having Lukaku, Diego Costa and Michy Batshuayi as Chelsea’s striking options for this season and hopefully the foreseeable future is something that would certainly excite many a Blues fan.
