Batshuayi prepared to fight for starting spot under Conte

Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi is prepared to prove himself at Stamford Bridge and push for a place in Antonio Conte’s starting eleven, according to reports in The Guardian.

The Belgian was Conte’s first signing as Blues boss, making the £33million from Marseille to Chelsea during the summer, but is yet to start a Premier League match.

In fact, Batshuayi has played just 53 minutes in the league this season after making five substitute appearances but has started both of Chelsea’s EFL Cup victories, netting twice against  Bristol Rovers.

And despite scoring the winning goal against Watford in Chelsea’s second league fixture of the season, Diego Costa’s imperious form has limited the Belgian’s chances of gaining a regular starting spot.

Costa is currently the league’s top scorer with six goals in seven appearances, which has led to reports linking the 23-year-old with a loan move back to Marseille in an attempt to gain first team football.

The speculation arose due to reports suggesting Conte did not consider Batshuayi to be his first choice striker, however, The Guardian suggest that the forward is happy at Chelsea and is determined to prove himself to the Chelsea boss.

Batshuayi is one of three Chelsea players currently away on international duty with Belgium, with Eden Hazard, Thibaut Courtois and the striker all preparing to face Bosnia & Herzegovina on Friday.
