Chelsea to block Batshuayi loan move to West Ham

One of Chelsea’s biggest summer prerogatives was to sign another quality striker to partner with Diego Costa when he needed a rest and to give the Blues some much-needed depth.

The player Antonio Conte brought in was Michy Batshuayi, who was also wanted by West Ham who had a €39m bid accepted by Marseille for the Belgian international striker before he decided on a move to Stamford Bridge.

Despite being used in a bit-part role this season, Chelsea have informed West Ham that Batshuayi will not be made available for loan when the transfer window opens next month, according to the Daily Mail.

Slaven Bilic was hoping to use his friendship with Chelsea manager Antonio in his favour and bring Batshuayi in on loan until the end of the season to help West Ham battle their way out of the relegation dogfight.

Due to the impressive form of Diego Costa, the 23-year-old has yet to make a Premier League start for the Blues this term but has made 10 substitute appearances, scoring once.

With both Jonathan Calleri and Simone Zaza returning to their parent clubs in January, recruiting a new striker is imperative for West Ham but fortunately for us, it doesn’t look like it’ll be Michy Batshuayi.
