Eager to reinvest the vast amounts of money they’ll receive when Oscar’s £60m transfer to Shanghai SIPG is finalised in the coming weeks, Chelsea have had scouts watching a number of players across Europe’s top leagues.
According to the Guardian, Monaco duo Tiemoué Bakayoko and Djibril Sidibé are players that Antonio Conte has had his scouts watch on numerous occasions this season ahead of a possible January swoop.
Conte himself, along with Chelsea’s technical director Michael Emenalo travelled to France earlier this month to watch the pair in action against Tottenham in the Champions League and both players are aware of the Blues’ interest.
Other players Chelsea are watching with intent are Roma pair Radja Nainggolan and Antonio Rudiger. It seems Conte has narrowed down his January wishlist to finding an athletic defender and a robust central midfielder to aid his title bid.
Chelsea are also locked in talks with Diego Costa’s representatives to tie the Spaniard down to a new contract at the club worth £200,000-a-week. His current deal expires in 2019.
