According to reports, Chelsea are providing competition to Bayern Munich as they try to agree a deal to sign defender Stefan de Vrij from Lazio
It looks like any deal for the 24-year-old centre-back would cost around €35m, but both Bayern and Chelsea are prepared to stump up the cash as both look to improve their current defensive options.
De Vrij had a very good first year with Lazio back in the 2014/15 season but missed most of the next year with a knee injury, one that required surgery.
He started this season very well before missing a month’s worth of action with a broken bone in his foot. However, he’s since recovered from that and has slotted back into the Lazio side.
The Italians will be keen to keep hold of de Vrij as they look to make a push at Champions League football, so it’ll be interesting to see the next developments in this saga.
