Chelsea are strong enough to win the double says Zouma

Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma believes the Blues are strong enough to win both the Premier League and FA Cup this season, the Express reports.

The Frenchman returned from injury after 11 months out to play the full 90 minutes in Sunday’s 4-1 FA Cup victory over Peterborough, and see’s no reason why the Blues can’t lift the trophy at the end of the season.

Speaking to Chelsea TV about Chelsea’s chances of doing the double following the victory over Peterborough, Zouma said:

We have the team to do it. We want to win this cup. It’s one of out targets. It was really good for everybody who played, to show that we are still here and want to play also. We have a very good squad – that’s why the manager can make changes. Everybody is doing a great job.

Zouma’s return will no doubt serve as a boost to Chelsea’s Premier League and FA Cup ambitions this season, and the defender is determined to earn his first team spot back, adding:

I’m ready to compete with the others.

Antonio Conte recalled Nathan Ake from his loan spell at Bournemouth on Sunday, adding to the competition for places in Chelsea’s defence.

The Blues currently sit five points clear at the top of the Premier League, and host Championship side Brentford in the next round of the FA Cup.
