On loan defender, Baba Rahman looks set for a long spell on the sidelines after suffering knee ligament damage during the African Cup of Nations.
The defender twisted his knee playing for his country, Ghana, at this year’s competitions, as the Black Stars beat Uganda 1-0.
Initial suggestions were that he just had severe bruising but the Ghanaian returned home to Germany to find out the injury was far worse.
He then underwent surgery to begin the recovery process.
The official word from the club is that Rahman will be out for “several months” but it’s feared it could be longer.

It’s a blow for the full-back who was having a good run of playing time at Schalke, having made 21 appearances for them to date.
With his slight struggle for playing time at Stamford Bridge, the loan move was designed to get his career back on track, but that’s now been hampered.
Chelsea will now be keeping a close eye on his recovery and hoping he rehabilitates fully. The two clubs are now deciding where is best for the defender to carry out his rehabilitation.
