Tuesday night sees table-topping Chelsea take on Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side – who have been on an atrocious run of three consecutive losses, under the lights at Anfield.
Chelsea comfortably saw off Brentford 4-0, Liverpool were knocked out of their second cup in a week, following up their 2-0 aggregate loss to Southampton in the EFL Cup semi-final, with a shock 2-1 defeat to Wolves at Anfield.
Liverpool are 10 points behind the runaway leaders at the top of the Premier League table and are in desperate need of a win not only to keep theirs but also the rest of the league’s title aspirations alive. As a Chelsea win could see the Blues push 11 points clear at the summit.
Having missed the decisive spot kick in Senegal’s African Cup of Nations quarter-final with Cameroon, Sadio Mane, who’s absence from the team has coincided with the Red’s hugely unexpected drop in form, is in line for a return to the Liverpool squad.
Adam Lallana is the only other doubt for the game, Danny Ings and Marko Grujic remain long-term absentees.
