Chelsea Football Club have offered recently retired and former midfielder, Frank Lampard a ambassadorial role at Stamford Bridge as he prepares for a future in coaching, according to the Evening Standard.
After spending time at West Ham United, Chelsea, Manchester City and MLS side New York City, the English midfielder called a close to his illustrious career just over a week ago.
Lampard, 38, has returned to Cobham with the Chelsea academy in order to complete his coaching badges.
After 106 caps for the England national team, Lampard does not seem to have his heart set on any thought of an early retirement.
As of yet, Lampard has not completed his ‘B’ license, which means he has quite a journey to go before he can join any club as a major coach.
The west London club want to capitalise on the opportunity to acquire their club hero before he gets tempted with any other offers.
Lampard’s brief but eventful stay in the MLS may be avenue they look to utilise in a way of promoting the club further afield, should he accept the new role.
