The absence of antagonistic extrovert Zlatan Ibrahimovic has somewhat downplayed the significance of Monday night’s FA Cup quarter-final, but be under no illusion, Jose Mourinho will be out for revenge after the two sides’ last meeting, a humiliating 4-0 loss for Manchester United upon Mourinho’s return to Stamford Bridge.
In actual fact, ever since that game United haven’t lost a single game, yet much to the enjoyment of rival fans the Red Devils somehow remain in a lowly sixth place in the table despite their good form.
United have however picked up their first piece of silverware under Mourinho, as Ibrahimovic scored a dramatic late winner against Southampton in the EFL Cup final.
Chelsea meanwhile have seemingly run away with the league title, having established an almost unassailable ten-point lead.
Both clubs faced tricky away ties against struggling Championship opposition in the last round, winning 2-0 and 2-1 against Wolves and Blackburn respectively.
Pedro picked up his fourth goal in just three games in this season’s competition, while Marcus Rashford got on the scoresheet for Manchester United, as he scored his third goal in as many rounds.
Apart from the aforementioned suspension of Ibrahimovic, neither side have any notable injury concerns going into the games, although both sides may rotate their teams.
