On this day five years ago, Chelsea completed a miraculous comeback at Stamford Bridge in the second leg of the Champions League round of 16, coming from 3-1 down against Napoli to progress.
The clash was Roberto Di Matteo’s first ever game in the European competition and it was a simply amazing evening under the lights, with the Blues showing unbelievable character to progress.
Goals from Didier Droga, John Terry and Frank Lampard managed to cancel out Gokhan Inler’s second-half strike, meaning that Chelsea took the game to extra-time with the aggregate score at 4-4.
However, the game still had one more twist in it, as Branislav Ivanovic powered home for Chelsea completing their incredible comeback and sending them through to the quarter-finals.
