Juventus are set to do battle with Chelsea over the services of Fiorentina winger Federico Bernardeschi, as per a report from Italian outlet Calciomercato.
The Old Lady are said to have two transfer targets in mind this summer, with Bernardeschi joining PSG outcast Angel Di Maria on their radar.
Di Maria has been unable to fulfil the ‘vaulting ambition’ of PSG’s owners and shareholders – having contributed to the quite infamous collapse against Barcelona in the Champions League this season, while boss Unai Emery is also firmly under the spotlight following yet another substandard performance in Europe, despite being in charge for less than a year.
23-year-old Italian Bernardeschi is, however, very much in demand, and along with his coach Paolo Sousa, he looks likely to leave La Viola this summer. Sporting Director Pantaleo Corvino has stated that the club will fight to keep hold of one of their key assets but if the right offer comes in, it seems as though the club will be resigned to selling Bernardeschi.
Bernardeschi has been in scintillating form this season, scoring 13 goals and recording five assists for a stuttering Fiorentina side.
He has the ability both to operate as a right winger and in Antonio Conte’s fruitful 3-4-3 formation as a right wing-back – a position where cover for Victor Moses is most certainly necessary if Chelsea are to fight on four fronts next season.
