Chelsea in ‘pole position’ to sign Virgil Van Dijk from Southampton this summer, according to a report from Chris Bascombe of The Telegraph.
Southampton are expecting to receive bids in excess of £50million for van Dijk in the summer and according to Bascombe, Antonio Conte’s Blues are leading the race to sign him.
The Dutchman is being lined up as a replacement for the out of contract John Terry and there is also talk that Nathan Ake could be set for a summer exit too.

Liverpool, Manchester City and numerous other clubs are said to be interested in van Dijk but according to Bascombe, Chelsea are the side most likely to get him.
Conte’s back three of Gary Cahill, Cesar Azpilicueta and David Luiz have been fantastic this season but it looks like one of that trio will find themselves on the bench next year if van Dijk does end up at Stamford Bridge, although with Champions League football on the horizon, there’s a good chance that Conte will have to rotate his starting line-up more often than he has this season.
