Chelsea target offered huge new deal

Chelsea target Alexis Sanchez has reportedly been offered a huge new deal worth £300,000 a week by Arsenal, which would make him the Premier League’s highest earner. Reports the Evening Standard.

Sanchez has been one of the only shining lights in an otherwise dismal campaign for the Gunners, with the Chilean notching up 22 goals in all competitions this season, and as a result, he has attracted plenty of interest from some of Europe’s top clubs.

Manchester City, Chelsea and PSG are all set to table bids of around £50 million for Sanchez at the end of the season, should Arsenal fail to negotiate a new contract with him.

Sanchez has become discouraged by Arsenal’s poor recent form, the Gunners have lost seven of their past 12 games and have subsequently seen protests against manager Arsene Wenger ramp up – this drop off in results has left Arsenal in seventh place, seven points off the coveted Champions League spot. Relations between Sanchez and some of his teammates have also become frayed, after a reported training ground dispute last month.

But despite this senior figures at Arsenal believe that an agreement can still be reached, although a failure to qualify for the Champions League will make the task that much harder.

Arsenal are also aware of the fact that they don’t want to make the same mistake as they did with Robin Van Persie, who forced through a move to Manchester United after failing to agree on a new contract and are therefore reluctant to sell Sanchez to an English club.
