Chelsea are now just five wins away from the Premier League title, but there aren’t many harder ways to kick off a title run in than an away trip to Manchester United.
United may not have been in the best form this season – currently sitting in fifth place, but they’re are still on the longest unbeaten streak this season, going 20 games without defeat, and in Zlatan Ibrahimovic, they have one of the most prolific forwards in Europe.
Chelsea won their last game 3-1 away to Bournemouth and made sure that the gap to Tottenham remained at seven points, whilst Manchester United strolled past damned relegation battlers Sunderland 3-0 at the Stadium of Light on Sunday in their last Premier League match. While in the Europa League, Jose Mourinho’s men slumped to a 1-1 draw away to Anderlecht in the first leg of their quarter-final tie.
Victor Moses returned to Chelsea’s starting line-up to great effect last weekend, and as a result, Chelsea should have a fully fit squad to pick from. Manchester United, on the other hand, will be without a host of first-team players – with Juan Mata, Chris Smalling, Phil Jones, and Ashley Young all ruled out, while David de Gea should be available for the visit of Chelsea. While Wayne Rooney is a doubt having been left out of the squad for United’s trip to Anderlecht.
