Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen was today linked with a potential move to Southampton in the summer, but it looks as though those claims have been quashed.
The powerful Dane has been in superb form for Borussia Monchengladbach over the last couple of years as he continues his development away from Chelsea on loan, and his displays have earned him several plaudits across the continent.
Reports emerged today that suggested that the Blues are looking to bring in Virgil van Dijk from Southampton, with Claude Puel’s side claimed to be big admirers of Christensen.

Although the reports suggested that the Blues would rather loan out Kurt Zouma, another out-of-favour Chelsea centre-back, instead of the Dane, the player himself’s father has had his say on the links.
Quite bluntly, Christensen’s father Sten, who is also his son’s agent, has snubbed any rumoured move to Southampton and doesn’t sound best pleased about the defender’s situation at Stamford Bridge.
Speaking to Danish news outlet Ekstra Bladet, as reported by Sport Witness, the agent said this:
Andreas will not be used in a barter and play for Southampton. There are no ways for this to happen.
Andreas should not sit on the bench. He has played solidly for two seasons. Therefore, it is also planned for the future that he will play every week.
