Chelsea could be set to miss out on one of their top summer transfer targets as AC Milan join the race to sign Celtic striker Moussa Dembele, according to the Daily Express.
The French Under 21 international, who is valued at £40m, has been on the radar of a host of Premier League clubs after scoring 17 goals in his first season in the Scottish Premier League, helping Brendan Rodger’s side to win the league undefeated.
Chelsea were already facing tough competition from Arsenal and Tottenham to sign the highly rated 20-year-old, but it’s reported that he would favour a move to Italy, with AC Milan now having sounded out the player’s representatives.
AC Milan are expected to table a formal offer for the striker soon, which could also force Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham into action if they’re serious about signing the player.
Celtic managed to hold off interest from Chelsea in the January transfer window, but the new Premier League Champions are still keen on signing the former Fulham forward.
As well as scoring 17 times in the League this season, Dembele netted three times in the Champions League and four times in the Scottish Cup, a trophy that Celtic also went on to win.
