Thibaut Courtois has been Chelsea’s last line of defence over the last few years and has helped the club win two of the last three Premier League titles in the process.
The Belgian international has been linked with a big-money move to Real Madrid this summer if the La Liga champions fail to land Manchester United star David De Gea, but Chelsea don’t want to let him leave.
With his contract expiring in 2019, the time has come for the Blues to start thinking about handing the 25-year-old an extension to his current deal in order to put an end to any overseas interest.
Speaking about his future and a new contract, Courtois seems to hint that he will decide to stay at Stamford Bridge this summer if he’s handed a new deal:
Contract talks haven’t opened but I am happy at Chelsea. I hope they reward me with a good contract. Then there will be no doubt I will sign it.
Playing an integral part in two title-winning sides, there is no doubt that the former Atletico Madrid loanee has earned a new contract.
