PSV hold informal talks over becoming affiliate club to Chelsea

Chelsea have reportedly held informal talks with PSV over a deal to become an affiliate club with them.

The Blues currently hold a partnership with PSV’s fellow Eredivisie outfit Vitesse Arnhem, who have welcomed plenty of players to the club on loan in the recent few years since a deal was struck between the pair.

Now though, it looks as though yet another Dutch club is looking to explore the option of becoming something of a feeder club for Chelsea.

Toon Gerbrands, the current CEO of the Eredivisie side, has revealed the informal discussions with Chelsea among other clubs regarding a potential affiliation in the future.

Speaking to Eindhovens Dagblad, as covered by Inside Futbol in a recent report, Gerbrands had this to say about the prospect of future partnerships:

There are sometimes players who we cannot pay, but top clubs can. If a deal is possible, we need to loan and see if there are opportunities to benefit more from a sell on or good development than is the case now.

During the Champions League matches with Bayern Munich, we talked a lot with the officials at the club. However, Manchester City, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are open to this model and there are sometimes informal conversations with these clubs. We can also turn to other top clubs.

Bertrand Traore has flourished out on loan in Holland for Ajax this season, while the likes of Lewis Baker and Izzy Brown have previously impressed for Vitesse in the past couple of years.
