Bernardeschi had been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge with Antonio Conte believed to be a huge fan of the player. Juventus were also thought to be interested but the 23-year-old is thought to prefer a move to the San Siro.
With a return to the Champions League next season on the cards, the Blues are in the market to strengthen in all areas.
Bernardeschi has impressed for La Viola throughout the latest Serie A season, scoring 14 times in all competitions.
This season the winger has earned a call-up to the Italian national team and he could be seen as a direct replacement for Ivan Perisic, who is being linked with moves to both Manchester United as well as Stamford Bridge also.
