Chelsea board stunned by Conte’s text to Costa

Antonio Conte’s decision to notify top scorer Diego Costa he doesn’t need him next season by text has stunned the Chelsea board and looks set to cost the Premier League champions millions, according to a report in the Daily Mail.

Interested clubs now know Chelsea are desperate to sell the Spanish international with AC Milan one of those rumoured to be interested in the striker.Everton

Everton are not looking likely to budge on their £100 million value of Romelu Lukaku, a possible replacement for Costa.

Boss Conte is thought to have messaged all his players wishing them a happy time away with their families and reminding them to ‘keep active’. Costa messaged back, enough to irritate Conte who replied letting him no he is no longer part of his plans.

Costa informed the Spanish media of the spat after Spain’s game with Colombia. He said: Conte sent me a message saying he does not need me for next season. So I’ll have to find a way out.”

The news has filtered back to the powers-that-be at Chelsea and they think the whole story could cost them millions as teams now know that Costa is an unwanted player.
