Chelsea set to sign Willy Caballero

Former Manchester City goalkeeper Willy Caballero is set to sign for Chelsea, according to ESPN.

Cabellero will serve as back-up to first choice goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois after Asmir Begovic departed Stamford Bridge earlier this month to join Bournemouth in a £10million move.

Last month, Manchester City confirmed that Caballero, along with Bacary Sagna, Jesus Navas and Gael Clichy, would leave the club this summer after his contract expired.

Caballero rejected a one-year deal to stay at City after reportedly receiving offers from clubs in both England and Spain.

Talks between Chelsea and Caballero are said to have been ongoing, with the 35-year-old now looking set to become Chelsea’s first summer signing ahead of the new season.

The Argentinean has reportedly agreed terms with the Premier League champions, who have won the race for his signature.

Caballero made 24 starts in competitions last season for Manchester City after Claudio Bravo was dropped and he kept eight clean sheets in those games.
