Chelsea have always been on the look-out for talented teenage prospects to bring into their academy and develop under their own stewardship with a long-term view of promoting them into the first-team or selling them on for a profit.
The Blues were interested in signing PSG youngster Timothy Weah this summer to be the latest teenager to join the ranks.
Timothy, the son of former Liberian legend and Ballon d’Or winner George Weah, was born in New York and came through the ranks with the New York Red Bulls before a switch to PSG in July 2014.
The 17-year-old scored three goals in four UEFA Youth League appearances for PSG in 2016/17 which put him on Chelsea’s radar.
Available to sign on a free transfer as he’s yet to sign pro terms, the Blues were hopeful of convincing him to make the move from Paris to London but it’s not to be.
As reported by the Mirror, Weah has turned down interest from Chelsea and AC Milan in order to sign a new three-year deal with the Ligue 1 giants.
