Premier League side Chelsea are preparing a huge £48m bid for Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci as manager Antonio Conte looks to strengthen his defence, according to a report on the Daily Star.
The Italian defender has been a target for Conte since last summer and the Italian manager has been a huge admirer of the centre back since he used to work with him at Juventus and the Italian national team.

According to Italian news outlet Tuttosport, Chelsea are willing to spend £48m on the defender and are ready to submit the bid as Conte is desperate to bring Bonucci to Stamford Bridge.
Bonucci has been one of the key players in the defence of Juventus for many years, creating a healthy partnership with compatriots Andrea Barzagli, Giorgio Chiellini and Gianluigi Buffon.
However, Conte is hopeful that he can break that bond and persuade the 30-year-old to join the Premier League champions.

There have been rumours in Italy that Bonucci and Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri have fallen out, which boosts Chelsea’s hopes of bringing him to the Premier League.
Conte is looking to strengthen his side in all areas as the London club look to successfully defend their Premier League crown and to also challenge against Europe’s best teams in the UEFA Champions League.
